Identification of high frequency transformer model parameters

A two stage model is used to model the high frequency transient behavior of two winding transformers. The assumed transformer model’s parameters are estimated using the maximum likelihood estimation technique and the Kalman filter based on the time response data. Simulations are carried out using the frequency response data generated based on an assumed transformer model. The transfer function time constants for the obtained frequency response data are estimated using the nonlinear least squares technique. The resulting values are then used to generate the time response data for the same transformer. The parameters of the chosen two stage transformer model are estimated in two steps. First the single stage model is identified and subsequently the remaining parameters of the two stage model are estimated using the maximum likelihood method. The estimation results for a two-stage two winding transformer model are presented.
